I am a somatic inclusive and affirming trauma psychotherapist and I’ve been in the mental health field for 25 years. I’m trained in various modalities to help with a multitude of mental health issues, and I’ve worked within diverse communities and different settings.
I am trauma-informed AND trauma-trained. I have specialized training and experience in working with complex trauma (CPTSD) and anxiety, disordered eating, and many other issues.
I offer private psychotherapy, groups, and parent/caregiver support to the following:
I help highly sensitive and anxious moms, young women, and folx with gender-expansive identities heal trauma and shift unwanted family patterns they no longer want to repeat. Click the Private Psychotherapy button below to learn more.
I help girls and LGBTQIA+ teens heal trauma, manage anxiety, and live authentically. Please click theTeens Rising Empowerment Programs™ button below to learn more.
I support and educate parents & caregivers of teens with disordered eating and eating disorders who would like to engage in their own healing and/or learn how to support their teens feel empowered, so their families and teens can begin to heal. Please click the Parent Support button below to learn more.
My therapeutic style and I have been described as compassionate, authentic, empathetic, down-to-earth, relational, educated, open-minded, and affirming of people of all gender identities, races, ethnicities, sexualities, abilities, bodies, and more.
I work through an anti-oppressive, equitable, social justice, anti-racism, feminist, anti-diet, body and fat liberation lens. I do not discriminate and I take this very seriously. I actively engage in personal and spiritual growth so I am always learning and making an effort to do better and be better.
My name is Dawn K. Gibson, LCSW. I’m an inclusive somatic psychotherapist with 25 years of experience in the mental health field. I currently support moms, young women, teens with trauma, and parents/caregivers of teens with eating disorders and disordered eating, and moms. I offer support through private psychotherapy and group programs.
Trauma is not what happens to us, but what we hold inside in the absence of an empathetic witness.
